What Thundr is (checked 27 October 2026)

Thundr calls itself live random video chat. It started as thundr.tv in March 2024 and now lives at thundr.com. Its operator is listed as Lightningware Inc. On Google Play it has an Android app rated PEGI 18 with in-app purchases; when we searched the US App Store on 27 October 2026 we did not find an iPhone app. Its FAQ lists extras such as Boost and coins, and you can sign in with Google or Apple.

What Strangerhood does differently

Text-first chat. There are no video or voice calls. The other person sees a handle and what you send: mostly text, plus voice messages from signed-in users and photos from Premium accounts. Free to chat, no ads. An optional Premium (coming soon) is planned; chatting and the safety tools stay free. Chats you both take part in are saved, and you can add people as friends, so a good conversation does not end when someone presses next. Adults only. In the UK you do a one-time age estimate on your own device before your first chat; elsewhere the standard follows local law. Read the safety page for exactly what is and is not checked.

Where Thundr is the better pick

If you want video, Thundr has it and Strangerhood does not, and Thundr has an Android app. Strangerhood is new (2026) and small, so some hours are quiet.

Is matching running right now?

Matching can be paused while we work on it. When it is, new chats are switched off and you see a notice after you press start; your saved chats and friends still work. We would rather tell you that than promise a chat the moment you arrive.

A note on this comparison

Strangerhood publishes this page and is one of the options in it, and we are not connected to Thundr or its operator. We only state things about Thundr that its own public pages and listings show, with the date we looked; they can change. See also chitchat.gg and sites like Omegle.
