Refund Policy
Last updated: 27 October 2026
Chatting on Strangerhood is free, so there is nothing to refund unless you buy Premium, our optional paid subscription. Premium is not on sale yet; this page explains how refunds will work from the day it is. It sits alongside the Premium section of our Terms of Service.
Cancelling
You can cancel a Premium subscription at any time. Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep Premium until the end of the period you have already paid for, and we do not charge you again. Cancelling on its own does not refund the period you are already in, but the sections below may.
Your 14-day right to cancel (UK and EU)
If you live in the UK or the EU, you can cancel a new Premium purchase within 14 days of buying it and get your money back, without giving a reason.
You can ask us to start Premium straight away. If you do, and then cancel inside the 14 days, we refund what you paid minus a fair amount for the days you have already used. If you did not ask us to start it straight away, you get the full amount back.
Other refunds
- Premium did not work as described. If something we said Premium does is not working and we cannot fix it promptly, we will refund you.
- Anything else (a mistaken purchase, a renewal you forgot, a duplicate charge) we look at case by case. Tell us what happened and we will do what is fair. Asking costs you nothing.
- Renewals are charged automatically. If one surprised you, ask us soon after the charge; the sooner you ask, the easier it is to put right.
How to ask
Use Help & Support from your account and say you are asking about a Premium refund, and which payment it concerns. Payments are taken by Stripe, which acts as merchant of record for Premium; Stripe also handles tax and billing questions, and approved refunds go back to the card or method you paid with. How long they take to appear depends on your bank or card issuer.
Please talk to us before your bank
If a charge looks wrong, contact us first. We can usually sort it out faster than a bank dispute. If a payment is reversed through a chargeback, Premium ends immediately.
When Premium ends straight away
- When we refund you, Premium ends immediately.
- When a payment is charged back, Premium ends immediately.
- If your account is banned for breaking our rules, Premium ends with it and we do not refund the rest of what you paid. You can appeal any ban.
Nothing on this page limits any legal rights you have as a consumer.
